Aia Vecchia is located deep in the Tuscan countryside between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci where a favorable microclimate and native soils provide an ideal growing environment. In addition, the exposition of the vineyards provides the vines with both direct sunlight and sunlight reflected by the sea, which promotes early and even ripening. Of the property's 170 acres, 118 acres are planted to vine, of which 74 acres are located in Bolgheri and are planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and used to produce Lagone and Sor Ugo. The Morellino di Scansano is produced at the 24 acre Magliano estate in Toscana (Grosseto) which is planted to Sangiovese and Merlot. Both properties are owned by the Pellegrinis, a local family who has been growing grapes for several generations.
