Nice pale rose colour with tiny bubbles. Strong red fruit aromas on the nose On the palate, fruit is dominant too with vivacity and a hint of acidity. Supple and round.
The balance between the dominant Pinot Noir and the smaller percentage Chardonnay gives this wine its beautiful pale rose colour and its delicate notes of red fruits, strawberries, raspberries, wild strawberries and black currants.
Wine Advocate 90 points - A product of maceration, and 80% Pinot Noir co-fermented with Chardonnay, Delamotte-s NV Brut Rose L10312 is surprisingly orange in color, but its aromas and flavors remind me of the other outstanding bottlings I tasted from this house alongside, incorporating as it does high-toned nut essences; succulent apple and melon fruit - here with hints of strawberry and orange rind; and revealing in its finish a rich, sweet-saline lobster shell reduction that tugs at the salivary glands. This hasn-t quite the textural finesse of those others, as there is a faint sense of black tea smokiness seguing into tanninity; but at the same time, raising the residual sugar to eight grams really doesn-t assuage that, whereas it does engender a slight, detached sense of overt sweetness. But paired carefully, this should serve very well over at least the next couple of years.
Wine Spectator 91 points - Fine and creamy in texture, this well-balanced rose is backed by lively acidity and a streak of smoky minerality. Hints of white cherry, toast, dried lemon peel and almond skin carry through to the lacy finish. Drink now through 2017. 5,000 cases imported.

Vinous 91 points - (60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay; 8 g/l dosage): Light orange. An intensely perfumed nose displays mineral-accented cherry and red berry scents along with slow-building spice and smoke nuances. Tangy, focused and stony on the palate, offering refreshingly bitter redcurrant, blood orange and cherry flavors. Picks up a toasty quality on the incisive finish, with the red fruit notes echoing.
The House of Champagne Delamotte is the fifth-oldest Champagne house in the region, founded in 1760 and located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Sister house and contiguous to the House of Champagne Salon, Delamotte produces no more than 50,000 cases annually, ensuring that the vineyards of Delamotte dominate the expression of its wines, defining the house’s elegant, mineral style. Through hard work in the vineyards and long aging in the cellars, the House of Champagne Delamotte has come to be recognized as one of the leading Champagne producers in the Cote des Blancs.
