The Riesling grape used to be described as “gentil”, in the sense of noble. Gentil wine contains a minimum of 50% noble grape varietals. The Pfaffenheim production is small (3000 cases) with a wonderful blend of Riesling for acidity, Pinot Gris for richness, Gewurztraminer for aromatic fullness, and Pinot Blanc for neutrality. Gentil is straw yellow with green tints. Its’ fairly strong nose reveals delicate fruitiness and its’ aromatic palate mixes together notes ranging from roses and spices through white fruits. The palate is very well balanced, leaving an impression of great freshness. Dry and crisp, “Gentil Pfaff” unveils subtle mineral notes, translating into purity and freshness. The texture is silky and fine.
