The Furst family has made wine in the Franken region of Germany since 1638. This 37 acre estate is owned and managed by Paul and Monika Furst; their son Sebastian joined the team in 2007. Twenty seven acres are planted in the Centgrafenberg Vineyard on a south facing hill to soil composed of sandstone and loam. Seven acres are planted in the Karthauser Vineyard on a steep south facing slope of limestone and gravel. A three acre estate parcel in the Schlossberg Vineyard is planted to weathered red soil over sandstone. Spatburgunder/Pinot Noir (60%), Riesling (17%) and Pinot Blanc (15%) are the primary varieties, but Muller Thurgau and Silvaner are also grown. Pinot Noir is barrel aged with indigenous yeast and the white grapes are fermented in steel.

Tasting notes
Cherry and spice flavors mingle with tea and spice flavors. This wine offers a touch of earth on the finish.

Technical notes
The must is fermented on its skins in open-top vats and aged for 18 months in French oak.
