Li Veli is situated in the Puglia region of Italy, the largest wine producing region in the country. In 1999 the Falvo family, former owners of Avignonesi in Tuscany, purchased the 128 acre property in Salice Salentino, in the heart of the Salento region. The vineyard portion of the estate currently measures 86 acres. Li Veli highlights the region’s principal native varietals, Verdeca for white wine, and Negroamaro and Primitivo, which are made into powerful, inky dark red wines of great character and elegance. Through proper vineyard management and vinification, Li Veli has established a new quality benchmark for wines from Puglia. ) The grapes are hand-picked from organically farmed vineyards planted on clay with limestone rock at an elevation of 229 feet.

Tasting notes
The wine offers lush and pretty notes of apple, ripe white stone fruit and tropical fruit that are framed with lifted acidity and minerality.

Technical notes
(100% Verdeca) The vineyard was planted 32 years ago on calcareous soil with sediment. Following harvest the grapes are transferred to large refrigeration rooms in the cellar to preserve the varietal’s aromas and flavors. The must was macerated on its skins at cool temperatures and fermented in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures.
