This full-bodied red offers notes of ripe dark fruit, exotic spice, tobacco and chocolate.
Wine Enthusiast 90 points - This big, hearty, full-bodied wine was made from 75% Zinfandel. It has spicy, oaky aromas, generous dark plum and cherry flavors and plenty of grip from tannins and acidity to wrap around all that flavor. It feels quite full bodied, dense but smooth in texture, and well-balanced for a wine with this much concentration.  (Aug 2015)

In 2014, Steve and Lori Felton, the owners of Klinker Brick Winery launched Tranzind. They’ve combined years of know-how and experience with a desire to offer a high-quality, approachable red suitable for everyday enjoyment. Tranzind is made by Joseph Smith, their longtime winemaker at Klinker Brick.
Wine maker notes
The 250 acre estate is planted on sandy loam soils; the head-trained vines are 35-110 years old and are dry farmed. The vineyard is divided into fifteen blocks, with an average yield is 2-3.5 tons per acre, the older parcels yield as little as .25 tons per acre. Steve and Lori also produce several single vineyard offerings, each are small, hand-crafted expressions of terroir.

Technical notes
(75% Old Vine Zinfandel/ 10% Petite Sirah/ 10% Syrah/5% Cabernet Sauvignon) A blend of estate and sourced fruit harvested from managed vineyards was aged in American oak barrels for 12 months.

Producer
Donkey & Goat wines are made by wife & husband winemaking team Tracey and Jared Brandt in West Berkeley, California. After losing their day jobs during the dot com crash, they enrolled at UC Davis, learning the science of winemaking and then headed to France to train under Eric Texier - an up and coming Rhone winemaker who taught them the art and craft of making wines that express their terroir. The vineyards, which are organic and sustainable, are in the Anderson Valley, Mendocino Ridge, El Dorado and Chalone AVAs. Donkey and Goat is focused on two categories - Rhone varietals and Chardonnay. That may seem odd, but the Brandt's love both and given that wine for them is as much a passion as a business, they make wines that they personally enjoy drinking. The wines are nuanced and balanced and don't give everything away immediately. They're made to be enjoyed with food. If you like these wines by themselves you'll love them over meal with good friends.
